Description:

St. Michael’s Hospital has a long tradition (over 30 years) of excellence and training in therapeutic endoscopy and remains the largest referral center in the country. The fellowship represents a comprehensive advanced endoscopy experience designed for those interested in an academic medicine career. Fellows will work with the 6 advanced endoscopists (Drs. Marcon, Kortan, Kandel, May, Teshima and Mosko) as well as other members of the GI division at SMH. They will gain extensive experience in a broad range of therapeutic techniques including: ERCP (including cholangioscopy), diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, pancreatic fluid collection drainage, UGI endoscopic mucosal resection, large colonic polyp resection, luminal stenting, radiofrequency ablation and double balloon enteroscopy. In addition to the cognitive and technical skills needed to provide clinical care in interventional endoscopy, fellows will be provided with research mentoring and will be expected to conduct meaningful research, present their findings at international meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
