Department of Medicine Outstanding Research Trainee Awards:
The Department of Medicine Outstanding Research Trainee Awards recognize outstanding performance in research by residents in Department of Medicine programs. There are up to three awards available, categorized by previous research experience: one award for a resident with an existing graduate degree, one award for a resident without previous formal research experience, and one award reserved for residents enrolled in the Clinician Scientist Training Program. The award is based on outstanding performance, as evidenced by one of more of the following:
- a research project/paper that has achieved significant scientific impact such as publication in a high impact journal, or won the student recognition by a professional society or conference either via award or selection for an oral presentation, or advanced the student to a level of scholarship (e.g. Studentship/Fellowship by granting agency)
- a research project that has a significant scientific impact on society at large, or group of individuals as evidence by social media presence, dissemination by traditional media outlets, etc.
