Clinician in Quality & Innovation

Appointment & Promotion

In July 2012, the Department of Medicine became one of the first academic departments in North America to formally recognize the contributions of its faculty members in quality improvement (QI) by creating the Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI) academic position description.

This academic position broadly includes faculty whose primary academic interest is engaging in quality improvement, patient safety, knowledge translation (KT), or other forms of healthcare innovation (e.g., advancing health informatics, developing new models of care). Many faculty members in this job description will demonstrate their impact through the creative professional activity (CPA) framework defined by the University of Toronto.
