Continuing Professional Development & Quality Improvement
The Department of Medicine is a leader in advancing the scholarship of continuing professional development (CPD) locally, nationally and internationally. Department of Medicine faculty members hold key leadership positions with organizations such as the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Association of American Medical Colleges, and are frequently called upon to lead innovative CPD activities within their national specialty societies.
One of the core mandates of the Continuing Professional Development & Quality Improvement (CPD&QI) Office is to encourage the alignment of quality improvement (QI) with CPD. This can range from integrating QI into CPD offerings by highlighting clinical areas with quality problems to explicit partnering of clinicians in quality and innovation and clinician-teachers/educators on initiatives to improve both educational and clinical outcomes.
