Congratulations to Dr. Lisa Puchalski Ritchie on her Junior Promotion from Lecturer to Assistant Professor in the Division of Emergency Medicine, Department of Medicine. Dr. Puchalski Ritchie was initially appointed as Lecturer with a Clinician-Teacher job description in 2007. Following the completion of her MSc/Ph.D. transfer program in Clinical Epidemiology at the Faculty of Health Policy Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, and collaborative doctoral program in global health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, her appointment was changed to Clinician-Scientist.
Dr. Puchalski Ritchie's academic focus has been in knowledge translation, particularly developing strategies to improve health care delivery and outcomes in resource-limited healthcare settings, such as Ethiopia and Malawi. Her Ph.D. work has developed into one of her current CIHR funded projects, which is refining the intervention for lay health care workers who care for patients with tuberculosis in Malawi.
Since 2013, she has independently led four projects and acted as a Co-Investigator on three others. In addition, she has 16 peer reviewed publications, eight as first author and two as senior author. Beyond her research, Dr Puchalski Ritchie holds a variety of administrative and academic responsibilities both internationally and locally within the University of Toronto related to global health. Dr. Puchalski Ritchie is the research director for both the Global Health EM and Toronto/Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration in Emergency Medicine (TAAAC- EM), in addition to her educational administrative role as the UofT FRCP EM Clinical Epidemiology Course Director.
