All programs across Canada are required to set up a CC as they transition to CBD. The Competence Committee (CC) responsibilities are to make promotion recommendations based on a framework of entrustable professional activities (i.e. EPAs…What are EPAs??) and other traditional assessment modalities, to determine resident competence along its continuum. It uses a developmental model to guide the resident’s learning by identifying areas that may benefit from more focus. Most importantly it uses the “wisdom of many” by engaging insights and perspectives from a diverse group of faculty. The CC reports to the PD and EMRTC.
The CC will start onboarding in April in time for our July 2018 implementation. Both CBD and non-CBD resident files will be reviewed by the CC on a monthly basis starting in July 2018. The PD and program coordinator will remain the point of contact for all resident-related questions/updates/concerns/compliments.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
