As health professionals of the future it is time we bring our presence to the climate movement and stand with youth to protect their lives, health, and futures.
#FridaysForFuture (https://www.fridaysforfuture.org/) is a global youth-driven movement started by 15-year-old Greta Thunberg, who went on a school strike to protest the lack of climate action in front of the Swedish Parliament. Concerned for the future of her generation and lack of climate action by adults, her actions inspired youth around the world to join #FridaysForFuture student strikes. On September 27th adults, supporting organizations, and professionals will be joining the General Strike for Climate.
This event is supported by the Division of Emergency Medicine at University of Toronto and nationally by many medical, nursing, and health professional organizations. It is endorsed by the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) and the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE).
