Dr. Sabbah joined the faculty in the Division of Emergency Medicine at the University Health Network (UHN) in 2010 as a clinician-teacher. Dr. Sabbah’s faculty appointment was updated to clinician quality and innovation, following the completion of his Master’s of Health Information Technology (IT) and a certificate in patient safety and quality improvement.
Dr. Sabbah has focused his energies on quality improvement, especially as it relates to IT innovations and increasing patient safety. He has led numerous projects of critical importance in emergency departments at UHN, many of which have successfully been implemented and have improved patient care as a result. Most noteworthy was his role as one of two physician leads on the hospital-wide advanced clinical documentation project at UHN. He is also a member of the information mobility steering committee that helped shape UHN policy on the use of mobile devices and implemented a hospital-wide mobile device management platform. In addition, Dr. Sabbah has also led the development and implementation of numerous evidence-based order sets to standardize and streamline care and ensure adherence to best practice. He has received three UHN stars for his contributions to patient safety, quality improvement, and information technology initiatives and was awarded the first ever annual UHN Local Impact Award for Clinicians. Dr. Sabbah was also nominated twice for the Anna Jarvis Award for Teaching Excellence.
