Emergency Medicine: Dr Pardhan- New Faculty Appointment

Dr. Kaif Pardhan

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kaif Pardhan has accepted a full-time appointment as Lecturer, Clinician-Teacher, in the Division of Emergency Medicine, Department of Medicine.

Dr. Pardhan is currently staff in the emergency department at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre. In addition Dr. Pardhan works part-time at McMaster University and holds an Assistant Clinical Professor appointment in the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Program. Dr. Pardhan completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Pardhan is currently pursuing a Masters of Medical Education through the University of Dundee.

Dr. Pardhan's academic and scholarly focus is on medical education and education policy. He is particularly interested in the assessment of trainees and supervisors, physician leadership and transition to practice. His current research projects include examining supervision and assessment in the transition to practice, tools to increase the number of evaluations received by clinical faculty members from trainees, and how stringent versus lenient feedback impacts learning. Dr. Pardhan participates in several committees including the UofT Emergency Medicine Residency Exam Committee, the Fellowship Affairs Committee, the Executive Committee of Council at the RCPSC. In addition, he is a member of the expert working group and the national advisory committee for the national fatigue risk management project.

Dr. Pardhan plans to use his interest in education research to explore the impacts of policy on the teaching and learning environment and work to improve the experience of trainees and supervisors.
