We are pleased to announce that Dr. Layli Sanaee has accepted a full-time appointment as lecturer, clinician-teacher, in the Division of Emergency Medicine, Department of Medicine.
Dr. Sanaee is currently staff in the emergency department at University Health Network. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at the University of Ottawa. During her PGY-4 year of residency, she began her master's in Public Health (MPH) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, which she will complete in 2018. In addition, she will complete the Master Teacher Program (MTP) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2017.
Dr. Sanaee's academic and scholarly focus is on medical education and public health. She is currently examining the processes by which Canadian residency programs are determining teaching and assessment activities in the Transition to Practice phase of the Competence by Design initiative. She is also actively involved in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including as an OSCE examiner and CBL tutor.
Her interests in public health include exploring barriers to ED care for refugee and newly arrived immigrant populations. In addition, Dr. Sanaee is an engaged member of the ED Quality committee and is co-lead on a project working to standardize interprofessional handover in the ED.
