Neurology International Residents Videoconference and Exchange (NIRVE)
Neurology International Residents Videoconference and Exchange (NIRVE) is a resident-led initiative founded by the Division of Neurology at the University of Toronto in 2009, to promote education through international collaboration.
The rounds take place at St. Michael’s Hospital, on the first Thursday of the month from September to June at 8 a.m. EST (3 p.m. GMT).
Format
Main presentation (25 minutes). Residents present cases, focusing on anatomy, localization, differential diagnosis and management of the neurological disease.
Image Challenge (15 minutes). This case is discussed with an emphasis on radiological differential diagnoses. These are interactive sessions, where

Annually, two of our neurology residents at the University of Toronto in Canada join Dr. Rotstein as our coordinators. They are passionate about expanding the international boundaries of NIRVE and encouraging resident teaching opportunities
Dr. Dalia Rotstein is the staff contact and founder of NIRVE at the University of Toronto. She is a staff neurologist at St. Michael’s Hospital, and a specialist in Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She is also an associate scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, with a special interest in the epidemiology of MS, disease-modifying therapy and dietary and nutritional influences of MS.
