Title: I Am a Mid-Career Clinician Teacher/Educator: What Now?

Session Overview: Join us for an interactive workshop designed to provide a safe space for conversations about the challenges and needs of mid-career faculty involved in teaching and education. While the session focuses on mid-career clinician teachers/educators, everyone is welcome to attend.

Objectives:

  • Create an open space for discussing the challenges of academic medical teaching and education.
  • Offer opportunities for faculty members to exchange experiences with senior clinician teachers/educators.
  • Explore potential career opportunities that build upon the clinician teacher/educator role.

Facilitator Bios:

Dr. Tina Trinkaus is an Associate Professor and Lead for Valuing the Clinician Teacher in the Department of Medicine. She practices Malignant Hematology at St. Michael’s Hospital and is the Co-chair of All in Cancer/Women in Cancer.

Dr. David Tang-Wai is a jack-of-all trades clinician teacher and professor of neurology and geriatric medicine, DDD of neurology and interim director of the Toronto Dementia Research Alliance.

Dr. Lynfa Stroud is a general internist, Division Head of GIM, and the Deputy Physician in Chief at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and a Scholar at the Wilson Centre for Research in Education at the University of Toronto. She is Chair of the Specialty Committee for General Internal Medicine at the RCPSC. Her research interests include assessment of and feedback for learners and faculty.
