Description: |
This fellowship is an educational opportunity to learn more about amputee management including pre-amputation consults, acute care consults post-amputation, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. An outpatient fellow clinic will be developed. The fellow will be expected to attend family meetings, make clinical decisions regarding prosthetic care with team members, deal with both standard prosthesis as well as the state of art advances in amputee care. Fellows will also be engaged in medical residents and medical students teaching. The Sunnybrook amputee population consists of dysvascular patients as well as trauma, burns and cancer patients. The Sunnybrook campus in addition to being a fully affiliated University of Toronto teaching hospital also hosts George Brown College Prosthetist training diploma program. As the largest acute care trauma hospital, this Sunnybrook fellowship offers exposure to complex traumatic and burns related amputations both upper and lower extremity. |
