Learning objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the key challenges facing academic medicine today.
  2. Discuss ways in which academic medicine must redefine its mission of education, research, and clinical care.
  3. Review crucial changes academic medicine must make in embracing convergence science; data science, and digital technology; increasing community engagement and social awareness; and preparing its workforce for the future.
  4. Describe the importance of social determinants in influencing individual health outcomes, population health, and health equity.
